UPNVJ Follows Up on ASIIN International Accreditation and Curriculum Review Activities with Prof. Joachim Voss

FIKES UPNVJ - Depok, July 11, 2025 – The Faculty of Health Sciences of the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) held a follow-up activity of the international accreditation process of Akkreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik (ASIIN) and a curriculum review which was held in the FIKES Meeting Room. The activity was attended by the Dean of FIKES UPNVJ, Desmawati, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.Mat., PhD; Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Rita Ismail, S.Kp, M.K.M, MTD (HE), Ph.D; Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Information Systems, Agustiyawan, S.ST.FT., M.Fis., Ftr. AIFO; Coordinator of the Undergraduate Public Health Study Program, Dr. Chandrayani Simanjorang, S.K.M, M.Epid, along with the Development Team Leader, Agung Raharjo, S.KM, MKK; the Undergraduate Nutrition Study Program Coordinator, Utami Wahjuningsih, S.Gz, M.Si; and the Development Team Leader, Muh. Nur Hasan Syah, S.Gz.; and the Lecturer/Department Secretary, Dr. Nur Intania Sofianita, MKM.
The event was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) UPNVJ. The event continued with a follow-up to the ASIIN accreditation and a curriculum review for the Bachelor of Public Health and Bachelor of Nutrition programs, led by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FIKES UPNVJ. The keynote speaker was Prof. Joachim Voss, PhD, RN, ACRN, FAAN, an international academic widely recognized for his contributions to global and interprofessional curriculum development. Joachim Voss is the Associate Dean for Academic Programs at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, USA, and is currently conducting a Fulbight Visiting Specialist program in 2025 at UPNVJ. During the presentation, Prof. Voss provided various critical perspectives and strategic input regarding curriculum improvements that not only meet national standards but also address the challenges of healthcare education at the international level.
The discussion was dynamic, covering strategic issues such as aligning curriculum structure with the needs of international students, the relevance of learning content to global practices, and the integration of interdisciplinary collaborative learning. Prof. Voss also highlighted the importance of public information transparency, faculty workload efficiency, and the sustainability of a student-feedback-based evaluation system as crucial elements in developing the quality of higher education.
On this occasion, Prof. Voss also appreciated the progressive steps taken by the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) of UPNVJ, including improving the appearance and functionality of the faculty's official website. He also encouraged strengthening cross-disciplinary collaboration in an effort to produce graduates who are adaptive, reflective, and ready to compete on the global stage.
The Dean of FIKES of UPNVJ, Dr. Desmawati, S.Kp., M.Kep., Sp.Mat., PhD, stated that this activity is part of the institutional commitment to maintaining educational quality and strengthening UPNVJ's position as a leading, internationally competitive university. "We are optimistic that the results of this review will strengthen the strategic direction of our future curriculum development and better prepare our graduates to meet the challenges of the times," she said.
This Curriculum Review is a crucial step in ensuring that UPNVJ's health education programs remain relevant, responsive, and oriented to the real needs of the community, both nationally and globally.
