FIKES UPNVJ - The Nutrition Study Program, FIKES UPN "Veteran" Jakarta, held a hearing with the Association of Indonesian Nutrition Higher Education Institutions (AIPGI) on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at the Department of Community Nutrition, FEMA, IPB University.
This hearing was a follow-up to the results of the international accreditation, which recommended the need for curriculum improvements and adjustments to better align with global standards, scientific developments, and the needs of the workplace. One key recommendation was updating course content and condensing the number of credits to improve learning efficiency and relevance. The meeting was attended by representatives from the leadership, including the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, the Coordinator of the Undergraduate Nutrition Study Program, the International Accreditation Team, and the Chairperson of AIPGI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Setiawan, MS.
During this discussion, the Chairperson of AIPGI recommended rationalizing the course structure and credit allocation in the Bachelor of Nutrition program, which is seen as a transition to the profession, to ensure a more focused and integrated study load through an impactful curriculum such as MBKM. They suggested combining courses with a small credit distribution into a block system to reduce the student burden, as well as adjusting the credits for Field Work Practices (PKL), which will be transferred to the professional level. The Undergraduate Competency Examination (SQE) will be maintained to ensure uniform nutrition science standards across Indonesia, although the course designation and curriculum development will be adjusted to suit the graduate profile and Graduate Learning Outcomes (CPL) of each university. AIPGI (Academic Nutrition Association) can serve as a reference for curriculum development, but adherence is not mandatory, given the differences in graduate profiles and CPLs between institutions. Furthermore, a combination of conventional and block learning is proposed, including an online elective course in the final semester, and mastery of three nutrition areas (Clinical, Community, and Food Service Management) at the undergraduate level before professional specialization, with block system training provided.
This hearing is expected to initiate a more integrated, efficient, and responsive curriculum update to global change. Following this, the curriculum team will draft a revision based on the discussion results and input from AIPGI, which will then be further discussed internally within the study program. This demonstrates the Nutrition Study Program's Undergraduate Program's commitment to maintaining and improving the quality of higher education in nutrition in Indonesia.
