Matra Nutrition Project “EXPERTIES – Safe Home Fire Prevention and Anticipation”

FIKES UPNVJ - Based on data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), throughout 2024 there were more than 3,500 disasters recorded in Indonesia, including floods, earthquakes, landslides, and fires. Fires are man-made disasters that occur in settlements and can be prevented. Data from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Fire and Rescue Service shows that in 2024 there were more than 500 fire incidents in the East Jakarta area. Fires not only cause material losses but also have an impact on public health, including disrupting the fulfillment of nutritional needs.

As a follow-up to the problem, on Saturday, May 17, 2025, the Matra Nutrition Project activity was carried out at the RW 01 Community Hall, Jalan Asem, Gongseng Raya, RT 06 RW 01, Cijantung, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta by students of the Undergraduate Nutrition Study Program, Faculty of Health Sciences, UPN "Veteran" Jakarta, class of 2022. This activity was carried out offline with the theme "PAKAR - Prevention and Anticipation of Safe Home Fires". This activity was attended by the Cijantung Fire Department, East Jakarta, Mr. Diky Zulkarnain as Head of RT 006, Mr. Abdul Mannan as Head of RW 01 Cijantung, and residents of the Gongseng Raya area, RT 06 RW 01, Cijantung, East Jakarta (Posyandu Cadres and RW Administrators). This activity aims to increase public awareness regarding fire anticipation steps and provide practical training related to the management of healthy and nutritious food for infant and child feeding (PMBA) in emergency conditions. The form of the activity is in the form of providing education to the local community, simulations related to fire extinguishing steps and questions and answers on related themes.

The activity began at 08.30 WIB by Dwi Puspita Andriani (2210714016) and Thalita Wulan Julia Rachman (2210714023) as Master of Ceremony, continued with a prayer reading, and singing the song Indonesia Raya and the National Defense March. The next event was a speech by Hilmy Mumtaz (2210714004) as the chairman of the committee, the second speech was delivered by a representative of the Cijantung Fire Department, East Jakarta. Ended with a speech by Mr. Abdul Mannan as Head of RW 01 Cijantung and Mr. Diky Zulkarnain as Head of RT 006. Before entering the delivery of the material, participants were invited to fill out a pretest by the participants. The next event was the delivery of material from the Fire Department accompanied by a simulation for fire extinguishing steps and continued with the delivery of material related to the role of nutrition during a fire, which was delivered by students of the Nutrition Study Program, Undergraduate Program, Class of 2022. During the question and answer session, the residents were enthusiastic in asking and answering the quizzes given, the speakers and committee also answered each question well. The event continued with the completion of the post-test by the participants who were present, accompanied by a student facilitator. Furthermore, a final review and testimonials were carried out with the fire department and the participants who were present and participated in the entire series of activities. After the entire series of activities were completed, it was continued with the handover of gifts, then closed by the Master of Ceremony, and ended with a group photo session.

This counseling activity went well and smoothly. The residents seemed enthusiastic about participating in the entire series of events, from the delivery of material to the final review of the activity. Through collaboration with the East Jakarta Fire Department, it is hoped that residents will gain knowledge and practical experience related to fire prevention, the use of APAR (Light Fire Extinguishers), and safe evacuation procedures. In addition, education on the importance of fulfilling nutritional needs in emergency situations, as well as training in managing PMBA (Infant and Child Feeding) public kitchens, also contribute to increasing the nutritional preparedness of the community in facing crisis conditions.
