FIKES UPNVJ - Jakarta, September 26, 2025. The atmosphere at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (FIKES UPNVJ) that morning seemed a little different. Lecturers, educational staff, and students gathered with the same enthusiasm to ensure their campus is a safe, healthy, and safety-based learning environment.
The activity, titled "Monitoring and Evaluation of Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment (K3L) Systems," was more than just an annual routine. Behind the clipboards and evaluation sheets, hid a major mission: building a shared awareness that safety is the responsibility of every individual in the academic environment.
In his opening remarks, the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Partnerships at FIKES UPNVJ emphasized the importance of making K3L part of the campus's health DNA. "We want the entire academic community to feel safe and protected in all their activities. K3L is not just a rule on the laboratory wall, but a concrete behavior that reflects concern and professionalism," he said.
The faculty's K3L team, along with representatives from departments and study programs, then inspected various critical areas: laboratories, classrooms, first aid equipment, and assembly points. They ensured that personal protective equipment (PPE) was available and used properly, that evacuation routes were clear of obstacles, and that emergency response systems were functioning properly.
In addition to inspecting the facilities, the team also held open dialogues with lecturers and laboratory technicians. These initiatives generated numerous improvement ideas, ranging from innovative spatial planning to creating mini-safety day campaigns at the study program level.
At the conclusion of the activity, the faculty committed to following up on the evaluation results with concrete action plans to further ingrain the K3L culture. For FIKES UPNVJ, safety is not just an obligation, but a value that must be lived out in every step of the academic community.
"A healthy and safe campus is the foundation for developing superior, resilient, and highly integrated healthcare workers," Agustiyawan concluded.
