UPN “Veteran” Jakarta Successfully Holds an International Public Lecture on Systematic Review: Evidence-Based Practice in the Health Sector

FIKES UPNVJ - Jakarta, July 7, 2025 – The Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional (UPN) “Veteran” Jakarta, through its Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), successfully held a public lecture entitled “Systematic Review: Evidence Synthesis for Better Decision-Making in Health Sciences.” This event featured a renowned international guest speaker, Joachim Voss, PhD, RN, ACRN, FAAN, who made valuable contributions to broadening academic insights and evidence-based practices within the academic community. The event was opened by the Vice Dean 3 for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Information Systems (Agustiyawan, SST.FT, M.Fis., Ftr., AIFO). The public lecture was moderated by Rita Ismail, SKp, MKM, MTD (HE), PhD (Lecturer/Vice Dean 1 of FIKES UPNVJ).

This public lecture aimed to increase students, lecturers, and healthcare practitioners' understanding of the importance of systematic reviews as a basis for more informed decision-making in the health sciences. Prof. Prof. Voss delivered a comprehensive presentation, covering systematic review techniques, evidence synthesis methods, and their implications for policy and clinical practice. The event took place in the 8th-floor auditorium of the Merce Building on the UPNVJ Limo Campus and was attended by students and lecturers from all faculties at UPNVJ, both offline and online. The event ran smoothly, with participants actively asking questions, both in person and via Zoom.

This public lecture is part of the Fulbright Specialist program. During his time at UPNVJ, Prof. Voss will conduct a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing, a public lecture, a curriculum review, and workshops: a publication workshop for novice writers with a focus on successful submission, a manuscript clinic, and grant writing skills. The event, held at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) at UPNVJ, also serves as a platform for strengthening international networks and research collaborations, in line with UPN "Veteran" Jakarta's commitment to promoting quality education and research at a global level.

As a form of appreciation, the Faculty of Health Sciences and LPPM UPN “Veteran” Jakarta presented a Certificate of Appreciation submitted by Vice Dean 3 for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Information Systems (Agustiyawan, SST.FT, M.Fis., Ftr., AIFO) to Dr. Joachim Voss for his extraordinary contribution as a resource person and Rita Ismail, SKp, MKM, MTD (HE), PhD as moderator who has managed the public lecture. This activity is part of the institution's commitment to supporting research-based education and becoming a forum for developing academic capacity towards a more resilient and responsive health system to changing times. The event ended with a group photo with participants and committee.
