FIKES UPNVJ - Jakarta, July 3, 2025 – The Faculty of Health Sciences at the "Veteran" National Development University (UPNVJ) is preparing to welcome Adjunct Professor Dr. Wan Ismahanisa Ismail from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, who will begin his academic role in the odd semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. This appointment is part of UPNVJ's internationalization program to strengthen its global academic network and enrich the learning experience for students and educators.
Dr. Wan Ismahanisa Ismail is a leading academic in the fields of public health and health services management, with extensive experience in teaching, research, and cross-border collaboration. His expertise is recognized in the Southeast Asian region, particularly in innovative approaches to health policy, primary care, and public health literacy. During his tenure as an adjunct professor at UPNVJ, he is scheduled to deliver public lectures, conduct faculty training, and supervise postgraduate student research.
The planned academic activities will include lecture series, international seminars, capacity building for faculty, research, and community service. In addition, the UPNVJ Faculty of Health Sciences will also facilitate cross-border research collaborations with UiTM Malaysia on strategic topics such as digital health, non-communicable disease prevention, and strengthening the national health system post-pandemic.
According to Agustiyawan, Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Partnerships at the UPNVJ Faculty of Health Sciences, this collaboration is an important step in strengthening the institution's capacity through international academic mobility. "The presence of Dr. Wan Ismahanisa not only adds value to the teaching and learning process, but also opens up broad opportunities for international publications and joint research programs," Agustiyawan said on Thursday (July 3).
Preparations for Dr. Wan Ismahanisa's arrival are currently in the final stages, including the development of a joint curriculum and adaptation of teaching topics to the Indonesian context. UPNVJ is also coordinating an official welcome through a series of international lecture opening ceremonies, planned for early September 2025.
This strategic step is expected to be part of the transformation of higher education to a global orientation, in line with UPN "Veteran" Jakarta's vision as a national defense campus that adapts to public health challenges in the digital era and post-crisis. The presence of an academic figure of Dr. Wan Ismahanisa's stature reflects UPNVJ's commitment to continuously delivering the highest quality in education, research, and community service.
