This event was led by elements of the dean's leadership and attended by 14 people including Resource Persons, Dean and Vice Dean I of FIKES UPN "Veteran" Jakarta, Managers of Nursing Departments and Study Programs, Head of the Study Program Development Team and Representatives of Nursing Lecturers. The main agenda of the meeting included an evaluation of the current curriculum and a strategy for developing a global-based curriculum to improve graduates' readiness to face the challenges of international nursing practice.
In his presentation, Prof. Voss emphasized the importance of equivalence of learning outcomes with global standards as the main basis for credit transfer and international recognition. He also highlighted that the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree has become the minimum standard for nurses who want to pursue an international career, replacing the dominance of diploma education that varies between countries.
Furthermore, the discussion developed into a strategy for developing international collaboration programs, the importance of setting clear goals in each program, and the need for learning design that considers students' initial abilities and their final goals, both for further study and work abroad. One of the strategies discussed was strengthening English and curriculum with a clinical practice-based approach that is in accordance with the United States higher education system.
The meeting also discussed the need for standardized documentation, both in the form of a syllabus, clinical assessment system, and supporting documents such as diploma supplements. All learning processes are expected to be neatly documented to support readiness for international accreditation and institutional quality assessment.
Through this activity, the Nursing Department, FIKES UPNVJ shows its commitment to periodically updating the curriculum based on evidence, to support the global readiness of nursing graduates who are not only academically superior but also able to compete at the international level [RD].
