FIKES UPNVJ - Depok, September 27, 2025 – The Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (FIKES UPNVJ), through its Public Health Study Program, conducted a community service activity titled "GLUKOSA" (Control Sugar, Live a Healthy and Sentosa Life) in the neighborhood unit (RW) 01 area of Cipayung Jaya Village, Depok City. This activity was part of the Field Learning Experience (PBL) for two students, supervised by lecturers, as part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
Education and Physical Activity to Prevent Diabetes
The event began at 6:00 a.m. with diabetes exercises led by instructors, involving local residents to promote a healthy lifestyle. The exercise lasted for one hour and included a warm-up, core movements, and a cool-down.
Following the exercise, the community participated in a health education session on blood sugar control and diabetes prevention, delivered by students under the guidance of lecturers. The session included interactive discussions and icebreakers to boost participant enthusiasm.
Free Health Checkups
In addition to education, residents also received free health checks, including blood sugar and blood pressure checks, and brief consultations with community health post (Posyandu) cadres. This service aims to detect the risk of non-communicable diseases early and encourage the community to be more aware of their health.
Collaboration Between Lecturers, Students, and the Community
The implementation team consisted of supervising lecturers, including Adelia Suryani, S.K.M., M.K.M. and Nayla Kamilia Fitri, S.K.M., M.Ph., as well as students from the Public Health Study Program, class of 2022. The presence of lecturer representatives, the Chief Executive, and community leaders (RW 01) added to the excitement of the event through welcoming remarks and full support for the program.

"Through this GLUKOSA program, we hope the community will become more aware of the importance of maintaining a healthy diet, regular physical activity, and regular health monitoring," said one of the supervising lecturers.
