UPN Veteran Jakarta's FIKES Lecturer Creates a Fire-Ready Community in Limo Village, Depok

FIKES UPNVJ - The risk of fire in densely populated areas such as Limo Village, Depok City, is a serious concern. The low public knowledge about the prevention and handling of fires encourages lecturers to the Public Health Study Program at the Faculty of Health Sciences UPN Veteran Jakarta to attend directly to provide education to residents.

Community Service Team (PKM) consisting of Dr. Suparni, S.T., M.K.K.K, Dr. Ns. Dyah Utari, S.Kep., M.K.K.K, and Farahul Jannah, S.Kep., M.K.K.K together with the 7th Semester Community Health Study Program Students carry out educational activities and assistance on household fire mitigation and emergency response preparedness on Friday, September 12, 2025.
The activity that took place in the Limo Village Hall was opened by Limo Village Head, Mr. Fajar Mei Hendri, S.STP, and was attended by representatives of RW, RT, Youth Organization, as well as fire volunteers from 16 RWs in the region. Through interactive education methods and pre-post tests, it is proven that there is an increase in public knowledge regarding fire prevention and handling. The purpose and purpose of the activity is to support the Limo Village community in realizing a safe house from fire through increasing emergency knowledge and skills.

The output of this PKM activity is: Community Education Related to Fire Prevention and Management, Increasing Community Knowledge as evidenced through Pre-Test and Post-Test, a follow-up plan in the form of a fire evacuation simulation that will be carried out with the community and students. The sustainable community service model that can be replicated in other regions.
RW representatives are expected to be able to convey the knowledge gained and can deliver material to residents in their environment to increase community preparedness. With a collaboration between academics, the village government, and the community, it is expected that the fire alert community will be able to create a safe house and a more resilient environment to face the risk of fire.
UPN Veteran Jakarta through the Community Health Study Program is committed to continuing to accompany the community in disaster mitigation efforts, so that the benefits of the program are not only felt for a moment, but also sustainable.
