FIKES UPNVJ - On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, lecturers from the Nursing, Public Health, and Physiotherapy departments of the FIKES UPN "Veteran" Jakarta, along with nursing students from all classes, successfully completed the first phase of their Community Service program in South Tangerang. Chaired by Desmawati, SKp., M.Kep., Sp. Mat., PhD., the program took place at the Nur Medina Al-Qur'an Memorization Boarding School in South Tangerang, with 30 young women participating.
This phase 1 activity provided information and training on the latest research innovations regarding "Cat Stretch Exercise and Counter Pressure in Reducing Menstrual Pain in Adolescent Girls." The goal of this phase 1 activity was to help adolescents understand the concept of dysmenorrhea and how to properly relieve it using the Cat Stretch Exercise and Counter Pressure techniques.
The event began with an opening speech by MCs Rufaedah Izzati and Aurayacinta Insanda, followed by remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and a representative from the Nur Medina Al-Qur'an Tahfidz Islamic Boarding School, Ms. Alika. The event continued with an opening prayer delivered by students from the Yatim Foundation, followed by a pre-test to gauge the adolescent girls' understanding before the presentation.
Moving to the main event, Ms. Desma, Ms. Eny, Alifah Ananda, and Tanti Fitria presented material on dysmenorrhea, its types, its factors, and how to relieve it using the Cat Stretch Exercise and Counter Pressure techniques.
A demonstration was then held. A re-demonstration of the Cat Stretch Exercise and Counter Pressure techniques was led by Nanda Karina, a lecturer from the community service team, and students Luna Rafhifah.
A post-test was conducted after the presentation to gauge the level of understanding of the young women. The activity concluded with a question-and-answer session, the distribution of prizes or souvenirs, lunch, a closing ceremony, and a group documentation session. It was concluded that the presentation, the provision of educational media in the form of posters and PowerPoint presentations, and the demonstration and re-demonstration of the Cat Stretch Exercise and Counter Pressure techniques resulted in an increase in the knowledge and skills of the young women at the Nur Medinah Orphanage Foundation in South Tangerang.
