FIKES UPNVJ - Jakarta, October 21, 2025 — The second day of the VMTS and Curriculum Workshop for the Public Health (Kesmas) Study Program at UPN "Veteran" Jakarta (October 21, 2025) was marked by a strategic discussion with students, alumni, and the internal team. In the closing session, the review team agreed to propose Matra Health as the main characteristic of the study program's strengths, strengthening UPNVJ's national defense identity.
Direct Perspectives from Curriculum Users
The focus group discussion (FGD) with student and alumni representatives revealed the strengths and areas for improvement of the current curriculum. Fitri Nur Afifah, SKM, and Adzkia Avisena Maghfiroh, SKM, stated that UPNVJ graduates are highly competitive in the workforce. Learning methods such as Case-Based Learning (CBL) and Project-Based Learning (PBL) are considered highly applicable and equip them with problem-solving skills.
"Project-based learning is crucial for communication skills and is directly relevant to industry challenges," said Fitri.
However, the integration of Digital Health is considered to still require further development. According to Isnaini Nur Hasanah, a student representative, digital health materials often serve only as an introduction without adequate practice. Students expect more applicable digital tools to be integrated into more courses.
Division Health as a Study Program Strength
During the second session of the internal discussion by the review team, it was agreed that dimension health would be proposed as a distinctive feature to be integrated into the vision, mission, and curriculum. Dr. Chandrayani Simanjorang, S.K.M., M.Epid., Study Program Coordinator, emphasized that dimension health is not limited to disaster contexts but also encompasses health services in special situations such as Hajj and other emergency situations, with an emphasis on promotive and preventive aspects.
"We are focusing on promotive and preventive efforts in dimension health. This will differentiate and be a unique value for UPNVJ Public Health graduates," she said.
The review team then proposed a draft vision narrative reflecting this orientation as a form of participation in the VMTS proposal process. As a follow-up to the workshop, the curriculum review team will finalize the VMTS proposal and draft a curriculum aligned with the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI), AIPTKMI standards, and the latest Permendiktisintek, as well as stakeholder input. This new curriculum is designed to produce graduates who are not only technically competent but also resilient, relevant to global challenges, and ready to lead in various situations, in line with the spirit of national defense.
