FIKES UPNVJ - Jakarta, August 13, 2025 – A warm atmosphere prevailed during the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES) at the Veteran National Development University (UPNVJ). Hundreds of new students enthusiastically participated in the "Healthy Campus" socialization session, which was an important part of the event series.
This program not only introduced the campus environment but also instilled awareness of the importance of maintaining physical, mental, and social health from an early age. The Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation at FIKES emphasized, "A healthy campus is not just about sports facilities or medical services, but also about a healthy lifestyle, free from smoking, bullying, and sexual violence. This is the commitment we are building together at UPNVJ."
Students were introduced to various healthy campus programs, ranging from providing environmentally friendly spaces, handwashing facilities at various locations, a nutritious diet campaign, to mental health support through campus counseling. Furthermore, it was emphasized that FIKES UPNVJ has a student protection mechanism to prevent all forms of bullying and sexual violence, including a complaint service unit ready to provide assistance.
Nadia (19), a new student, said she was inspired by this program. "At first, I thought PKKMB was just about academic orientation. It turns out there's something important like a healthy campus. I'm so happy to know that our campus is also serious about protecting students from bullying and sexual violence. So we feel safe to learn and develop," she said confidently.
This outreach activity also included light simulations on healthy daily living habits, how to manage stress, and discussions on the importance of building an inclusive and respectful environment. Students actively engaged in dialogue, demonstrating that issues of mental health, safety, and social welfare are a shared concern.
Through this program, FIKES UPNVJ emphasizes the hope that new students will understand that campus is not just an academic space, but also a place to grow and develop that is healthy, safe, and free from all forms of violence. "If students are physically and mentally healthy, and protected from harmful actions, then academic and non-academic achievements will follow," concluded the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation.
As the socialization session concluded, the faces of the new students looked more enthusiastic. A healthy campus is now no longer just a slogan, but a concrete movement encompassing physical health, mental health, and social protection—one they are ready to implement from the very first step into college life.
